Duane Reade is the New York City banner of Walgreens, with roughly 250 locations concentrated in the five boroughs and surrounding suburbs. The format is essentially a Walgreens drugstore adapted to dense urban real estate, often with a heavier prepared food and convenience selection. Duane Reade codes as a drugstore, so any drugstore category bonus card (Amex Blue Cash Preferred, Citi Custom Cash on drugstores) will earn its full multiplier. The myWalgreens loyalty program works at Duane Reade registers as well.
