It earns 3 points per dollar on Southwest purchases, 2x on transit, and 2x on gas and restaurants up to a combined $8,000 a year before dropping to 1x, with 1x on everything else, so the spending categories are useful but capped. The welcome offer is 60,000 points after $3,000 in the first three months. For status chasers it delivers 2,000 tier qualifying points toward A-List per $5,000 spent and 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points each year, though those Companion Pass points don't count toward flight redemptions. There's no foreign transaction fee, but with a 19.24% to 27.74% APR the value evaporates if you carry a balance.
