The 30,000-point bonus after $3,000 in three months, a $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit every four years, and 10,000 bonus points each year for booking a hotel stay or car rental through the USAA Rewards Center all help offset the $95 annual fee. Active duty members get a stronger version of the deal: no annual fee while serving, plus a reduced APR under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. The tradeoff is that the annual booking bonus is tied to USAA's own portal, so you have to book where USAA wants you to book in order to claim it. With no foreign transaction fee and an APR of 18.4% to 26.65%, it's a reasonable single-card travel setup as long as you'll use the credits.
