The More Rewards American Express packs an unusually wide 3x band into a card with no annual fee: dining including food delivery, groceries, gas, and transit all earn 3 points per dollar, which covers most of a typical household budget. The welcome offer adds 20,000 points worth $200 after $2,000 in spending in the first three months, though that offer is only good for applications through 1/3/2027. Standard APRs run 14.15% to 18%, low enough that carrying an occasional balance is less punishing than on most rewards cards, and there are no foreign transaction fees and no balance transfer fees. The tradeoff is that everything outside those four categories earns a flat 1 point per dollar, so spending on travel, online shopping, or bills gets no lift here. Rental car discounts of up to 25% with loss and damage coverage are a real but minor extra.
