The Delta Platinum's headline perk is an annual companion certificate, issued each year after renewal with no spend requirement, good for a Delta Main round trip within the U.S. and to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America. One well-used certificate can justify most of the $350 annual fee, and a $2,500 MQD headstart each year plus $1 MQD per $20 spent makes this a real tool for chasing Delta Medallion status. Earning is 3x miles on Delta and direct hotel purchases, 2x on dining and U.S. supermarkets, and 1x elsewhere. The catch is that much of the remaining value comes from credits you have to use on purpose: up to $150 for Delta Stays, up to $10 a month each at Resy restaurants and on U.S. rideshares (both require enrollment), plus a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit every 4 years.
