Wells Fargo Choice Privileges Mastercard
60,000 points welcome · 5x on hotels · $0 annual fee

For a card with no annual fee, the Choice Privileges Mastercard asks very little and hands back a reasonable amount, starting with 60,000 bonus points after $1,000 of spend in three months. That offer is worth watching: Wells Fargo cut it to 40,000 in April 2026 before restoring the full 60,000 in May. The 5 points per dollar rate applies only at participating Choice Hotels properties, but 3 points per dollar on gas, groceries, home improvement and phone plans is unusually broad for a free hotel card, and automatic Gold Elite status plus 10 elite qualifying nights a year come along with it. There are no foreign transaction fees and up to $800 of cell phone protection when you pay your monthly bill with the card. The honest limit is the currency: Choice Privileges points only matter if you actually stay at Choice properties, and 1 point per dollar on everything else is a weak base rate.
